Alexandra is a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working with children and families since the year 2000, in both clinical and school settings. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Her career began providing in-home family therapy in the Chicagoland area, from there she continued her work with children and families in the school setting before joining the Riverview team in 2009. She maintains, a Type 73 School Social Work Certificate from the Illinois State Board of Education and previously worked in schools from the elementary through high school level.
In her practice, Alexandra has focused on working with all ages from preschool to adulthood. When working with young children and their families, Alexandra values the importance of working with the family as a whole. Her work with young children incorporates a play-based approach as well as parenting support. Alexandra enjoys working with the adolescent population and supporting them through this transitional time of their lives. With the adult population, she focuses on couples therapy as well as women’s issues and depression.
Areas of expertise include behavior modification, social skills education, anxiety and depression as well as spectrum disorders, women’s issues, couples and family counseling.
As a parent of young children, she understands the importance of supporting the family as a whole during therapy, as well as the importance of identifying practical and customized interventions that families can incorporate into their daily routines.
