Lara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, receiving both her undergraduate and master degree in Social Work from Aurora University. With 9 years of experience working in the public school setting as a School Social Worker, Lara also carries a Type 73 Certification.
Lara is passionate about working with children, teens and their families to navigate a variety of mental health concerns, developmental disabilities and life challenges. Special areas of interest are depression, anxiety and high functioning autism.
In order to meet the specific needs of each individual client, Lara uses an eclectic model of therapy pulling from Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Play therapy and Behavior approaches among others. She is constantly striving to better her techniques and approaches and loves to keep learning in order to best meet her client’s needs.
Her past experience as a school social worker is an asset for families trying to understand and navigate the special education system in the school setting. She enjoys collaborating with the school not only to help educate teachers on ways to assist her clients, but also to help work on skills with a child to increase success in the school setting.
On a personal note, Lara is a mother of 4 in a blended family. She enjoys reading and spending quality time with both friends and family.
