Hi! My name is Kaitlin and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor (CADC) and currently hold my Professional Educator's License (PEL) with a School Social Work endorsement. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Northern Illinois University, and after pursued my Master's degree in Social Work at Aurora University, where I specialized in Addictions Counseling and School Social Work.

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II), I utilize a trauma-informed, teams-based approach when working with kids, teens, and adults. My background involves working in a substance use and mental health residential setting, along with working in a therapeutic day school for high school students struggling with emotional disabilities, Autism, and other social/emotional challenges (i.e., school avoidance, anxiety/depression, trauma, suicidal ideations and/or other self-injurious behaviors, etc.). Prior to Riverview, I provided individual therapy to teens struggling with anxiety/depression, trauma, school struggles, family challenges, and also provided Drug and Alcohol education classes as needed.

My approach to therapy is to provide a safe and welcoming environment that encourages individual change by meeting clients where they are at. Regardless of where you are at in your journey, support is available and I recognize the courage it takes to “ask for help.” This approach is supported through Person-Centered, Strengths-Based Therapy and utilized alongside Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Crisis Intervention in order to promote individual safety and healthier ways of managing past, current, and future life challenges.
If you don't know where to start, you're not alone! If willing, I'd love the opportunity to work with you in your journey of learning to overcome any barriers that are preventing you from being your best self and in gaining a better understanding of who you want that best self to be!
