Jayna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Jayna holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Northern Illinois University and a Masters of Social Work Degree from Aurora University. She maintains a Professional Educator License, formerly known as a Type 73 School Social Work Certificate from the Illinois State Board of Education and has been employed as a School Social Worker for the past twenty years in kindergarten through high school settings, as well as therapeutic settings. She is currently working in the West Aurora School District.
Jayna has experience working with children and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, adoption issues, social skills or seek to feel empowered. She has a long history of helping children and their families work together towards a common goal, as well as navigating both the special and regular education systems and resources within schools. She often uses CBT, Mindfulness, Art Therapy and Play Therapy into her therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents. She values the therapeutic relationship and helping people see their strengths and advocate for themselves.
On a personal note, Jayna has one son and is remarried bringing two stepsons into her family. All teenage boys make for an active blended family! In her spare time she enjoys her three pets (a golden retriever and feisty cats), the sun, and spending time with her family.
