Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois who obtained her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Benedictine University. Previously she received a Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Jennifer is currently enrolled in the Level 2 certification program for Synergetic Play Therapy, a method that provides a child-centered and neuroscience based approach to helping children and adolescents develop emotional regulation. She is a Certified Domestic Violence Professional in the state of Illinois.

With each individual client Jennifer uses a tailored approach to provide the most appropriate treatment. These include play therapy, cognitive behavioral (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques but always with a foundation in Person Centered therapy to foster a safe and nurturing environment for expression and healing.

Prior to arriving at Riverview Jennifer spent several years as a children’s therapist at a domestic violence agency where she assisted children and parents with healing from trauma and managing the emotions and behaviors that arise from it. Previously she has worked with children experiencing severe mental health crises and trauma symptoms arising from experiencing crime and abuse.

Jennifer works with children, teens and adults who are experiencing grief, loss, life transitions, cancer and other health concerns, divorce, trauma, relationship or parenting issues as well as anxiety and depression.

Jennifer is a mother of three and has experienced many of the joys and heartaches of parenting first hand. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her kids, husband and dogs as well as reading, gardening, traveling and spending time in nature.
