Maureen is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 25 years of experience. She has her Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois-Chicago as well as a Masters in School Administration from Northern Illinois University.
Maureen has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families. Starting in the child welfare system, she worked in foster care and group homes. Maureen worked as a primary clinical therapist at a therapeutic day school and as an intensive family therapist for students struggling with mental health issues. Maureen currently works as a social worker at a suburban school district, with a concentration working with students with emotional/behavioral challenges, as well as developmental disabilities at the elementary and middle school levels.
Maureen has experience in working with children and adolescents struggling with anxiety or mood disorders, behavior regulation issues, self-injury, ADHD, autism spectrum and adoption/trauma and attachment issues. She operates from a strength based approach, providing practical strategies to improve self awareness, communication, coping skills and relationships. Maureen continues her training in attachment parenting, crisis intervention and mindfulness exercises.
Maureen is the mother of an adopted teenage son and lives with her family in the Fox Valley area.
