Shelby is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. She received her Masters in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago with a specialization in Children and Families (Chicago, IL).

Shelby received her clinical training working in a partial hospitalization program where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to patients suffering from depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and self-injurious behaviors.

Shelby has experience in a variety of treatment settings, including outpatient private practice, partial hospitalization programs, and integrated primary care behavioral health. She approaches each therapy session warmly and with empathy, focusing on meeting the client where they are at and with the client’s personal goals in mind. Shelby believes that the therapeutic relationship is inherently collaborative and integrates the strengths of each client into the therapy process.

Shelby is particularly skilled in working with individuals living with chronic illness, as she is a Type 1 Diabetic herself. Shelby has also completed the first of a three-year advanced training program in Somatic Experiencing, a gentle yet effective method for resolving trauma. Shelby uses Somatic strategies in session as well as a variety of other modalities, such as CBT and DBT, depending on client needs. She has a passion for working with adolescents and adults across the lifespan. Supporting those currently experiencing traumatic stress as well as resolving past traumatic events in a safe environment is one of Shelby’s greatest passions”.

On a personal note, Shelby likes to spend her free time reading (lots and lots of books), relaxing with her family and pets, and cooking new recipes.
