Tricia Carmona is a Licensed Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University, where she specialized in crisis intervention and school social work. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Special Education, as well as a secondary undergraduate degree in Spanish—both from Aurora University.
Tricia maintains a Professional Educator License through the Illinois State Board of Education, certified in both teaching and school social work. Her professional background spans across the lifespan, from early childhood through late adulthood.
Tricia brings over nine years of experience as a Special Education teacher in public schools, where she was an integral member of the educational leadership team. In that role, she supported the development and implementation of accommodations and modifications for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Following her experience in education, Tricia transitioned to the mental health field, working for McHenry and DuPage County’s Mobile Crisis Response Team. There, she conducted assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for individuals in crisis, including decisions involving inpatient hospitalization to community stabilization.
Her areas of expertise include working with children, adolescents, adults, and families—particularly those facing behavioral challenges, trauma histories, and complex family dynamics. Tricia is skilled in helping families navigate school systems to secure appropriate supports and resources. She incorporates evidence-based therapeutic approaches in her practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Tricia is especially passionate about holistic care—addressing not only the individual but the entire family system.
Outside of her professional life, Tricia is a proud mother of four boys, ranging in age from toddler to high school. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, spending quality time with her family, discovering new restaurants, and exploring new places.
